Keith Ellison
Keith Ellison is a United States Representative from Minnesota's Fifth Congressional District, serving since 2007. He is the first Muslim elected to the United States Congress and is also the first African American elected to the House from the state of Minnesota. Born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, Ellison graduated from Wayne State and the University of Minnesota Law School, earning his Juris Doctor in 1990. He worked as a litigator specializing in civil rights in Minnesota before running for and winning a seat in the Minnesota State Legislature in 2002.
